About Ebony

After 15 years spent as a designer in the greetings card industry, working at Senior level for Hallmark Cards, followed by working as a freelance designer with greeting card publishers and high-street retailers such as UK Greetings, Pigment Productions and Paperchase, it was time to scratch a creative itch, and set up my own gifting business, Dotty Black.

I’m a versatile designer, but my skillset and passion has always leaned toward more contemporary design, graphic and bold styles, with a particular love for hand lettering. Every single gift product I design and create uses my own digital hand lettering, to give a truly bespoke and unique style.

I run Dotty Black from my beautiful home studio in Northumberland. The business I continue to nurture and grow, whilst raising my two beautiful children, who are a huge source of inspiration for lots of my products. We are a neurodiverse family, my son is autistic and I am ADHD. I am very passionate about the neurodivergent community, celebrating our differences, breaking the stigmas and utilising some of our biggest strengths. Why fit in when you were born to stand out, right?
